Students from all five North Scott elementary schools, along with three junior high students, converged on North Scott High School on Jan. 22 for the annual Invent Iowa competition. Students who earned special awards included:
Best Presentation of Prototype: Alan Shepard students Cael Mess, Colten Goodding and Behren Radech for their Phone Swivel.
Best Community Improvement: Shepard student Cora Vannorsdel for her Pothole Stopper.
Most Articulate Pitch: Shepard student Jackson Ruiz for his Slim Sweep.
Best Life Saving Idea: Armstrong student Maci Dalene for her Glow-Inator Construction Barrel.
Fun Product: Armstrong students Makenzie Scott, A'Mazia Jackson and Isabel Ohsann for their Blaster Skates.
Best Prototype: Virgil Grissom student Mady Slate for her Super Wardrobe.
Most Versatile: Grissom student Michael Hames for his Never Forget invention.
Most Environmental: Grissom students Brennon Boeding and Colin Luckritz for their Pollution Picker 3000.
