When the North Scott Educational Foundation began awarding scholarships in 1986, it was only able to award a single, $500 scholarship.

Each year since, with the addition of increased contributions from generous community members and the growth of the endowment, more scholarships have been added. This year, not only was the Foundation able to increase the amounts of several scholarships, it awarded a record total of $145,000 to graduating seniors.

“I hope, and I believe that they do, North Scott students realize how fortunate they are to live in such a generous community, and it's truly hard to comprehend the total number of students that have been touched by that generosity over the years,” said Scott Campbell, the Foundation’s longest serving board member. “This year, that point was truly driven home, as the $145,000 in scholarships was the most the Foundation has ever awarded, in one year, and what's even more remarkable, is that more than two-thirds (68) of the students who applied, received a scholarship.”

The North Scott Education Foundation was established in 1986, with the primary purpose of awarding scholarships to deserving North Scott graduates. In its 39-year history, the Foundation has now awarded 1,529 scholarships, totaling $2,213,915.

The Foundation awarded four new scholarships this year: The Oliver "The Ninja" Rentmeester Scholarship, the Dale T. Moore Scholarship, the Carter Pacha Memorial Scholarship, and the Cinnamon Ridge Scholarship.

North Scott Educational Foundation board members include: Debbie Shannon (president), Leah Allen (vice president), Shelli Engelbrecht (vice president), Susan Blaskovich (secretary), Seth Porter (treasurer), Scott Campbell, Brad Carmody, Jay Johnson, Mindy Leahy, Tracy Lindaman, Katie Pins, Butch Richlen, Dave Schnorrenberg, and Julie Stark.
