Nov. 3, 2010: Thirty years after the idea had first been proposed, a multi-purpose trail would be constructed to link Eldridge and Long Grove. The Bi-State Regional Commission approved the project for funding, with most of the money for the two-mile trail coming from a $825,682 Iowa Quad Cities Transportation Enhancement Program grant. The two towns would each contribute just under $93,000, and Scott County would provide the right-of-way and $20,000 in funding. Construction was expected to start in the summer of 2011.
