Guess who is celebrating a birthday?
Richard Kuehl of Harrodsburg, Ky., and formerly of Scott County, is celebrating his 97th birthday on Nov. 13 with a card shower. Cards can be mailed to Richard at 1415 Talmage-Mayo Road, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.
Richard was born in Davenport to Arnold and Marjorie Wiese Kuehl and spent his early years living and working on the family farm on Utica Ridge Road. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1947, served in the Army in Germany and married Erna Pinnow Kuehl there in 1955. Erna predeceased him in 1983. Richard later married Deanna Jenkins Kuehl on July 6, 1985, in Davenport.
While retired from farming in Scott County since 2000, Richard remains a career agriculturalist, tending to his Kentucky acreage which includes prairie, ponds and woods. He enjoys visiting with friends, eating out, watching sports on TV — especially cheering on the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Iowa State Cyclones — and spending time with his family and his dog, June. Richard is also looking forward to attending the 100th Wiese-Schneckloth Family Reunion in DeWitt next June!
Richard’s children are Tracey Kuehl (John Hintze) of Davenport, Lisa Kuehl (Connie Rex Younger) of Ames, Richard “Rick” (Tina) Jenkins of Harrodsburg; his grandchildren are Erin Kelley, Keith Younger and Susan Gauvin. Richard also has three great-granddaughters — Ashlyn, Madison and Savanna.
Happy Birthday, Richard!
