Betty Gene Schneekloth, age 94, passed away on Oct. 6, 2026. An interment service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Dale Allen Haury, age 82 of Bennett, passed away at the Clarence Nursing Home on Friday Oct. 2, 2026, surrounded by family. Per Dale’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a celebration of his life will be announced at a later time. more

Thomas Edward Souhrada was born April 23, 1946, in Pekin, Ill. He grew up in Pekin, the eldest of three brothers and attended Pekin Community Schools where he excelled in football, baseball and diving. His post–high school years led to him attending Illinois State University where he continued his football career and majored in secondary education focused on industrial technology. It was there that he met his loving wife Linda (Schneider) in 1969 as he pursued his master’s degree in secondary education. They were married on July 4, 1970, in River Grove, Ill., and soon after made their home in Davenport, where Tom taught industrial technology at Davenport West High School for 38 years. During that time, he coached swimming, track and football, but his love was always baseball. He coached both sophomore and varsity teams over the course of his 25-year career. During those seasons, Tom helped lead the Falcons to five state tournament appearances, winning the title in 1987, and later being inducted into the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Davenport Public Schools Hall of Fame in 2018. more

Nancy Jo (Corriell) Foutch, 85, of Woodbine, died on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at Arbor Springs of West Des Moines. She was born on Sept. 20, 1940, in Muscatine, to Lester and Marcella (Sprole) Corriell, and grew up on the family farm near Atalissa.  Nancy attended country school from kindergarten through eighth grade, then attended and graduated from West Liberty High School where she was active in music and was a member of the National Honor Society.  Nancy went on to attend Iowa State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in child development and was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota Sorority. Later, Nancy attended Dana College in Blair, Neb., where she earned certification to teach K–12 in Iowa.  On Dec. 2, 1961, Nancy married Vern Wil-liam Foutch, and they moved to their farm east of Woodbine, where they lived and worked for over 30 years before building their dream house in Woodbine to retire. more

In 1927, Great-great Grandpa Kenneth Finck was delivered in Finck family farmhouse by a midwife who traveled from Bennett in a horse-drawn sleigh. Nearly a hundred years later, Baby Hudson is now living there with his parents, Gavin Finck and Gabby Nuci. more

Carolyn Koppenhaver will be celebrating her 80th birthday on Sept. 15. Carolyn worked side by side with her husband, Bill, on the dairy on row-crop farm in the Wilton area most of her life. She retired in 2020. Carolyn is currently being cared for at Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Tipton. more
