Rick and Bev Plett note 50 years of marriage

Rick and Bev Plett of Bettendorf celebrated their 50th anniversary with a family dinner.

Rick Plett and Bev Crane were married Aug. 7, 1971, at the Eldridge Faith Lutheran Church.

Rick was a volunteer firefighter with the Long Grove Fire Department in 1974. Rick worked himself up to fire chief, retiring from Long Grove in 1989. He started at Rock Island Arsenal as a federal firefighter in 1986, soon after becoming one of the first paramedics (11 years) on the island. He got promoted to captain and retired at the position of assistant chief in March of 2006.

Rick was in the U.S. Army Infantry and served from July 1970 to 1971 in Vietnam.

Bev worked at Bawden Printing/Von Hoffmann/RRD for 26 years, starting as a receptionist, working in the bindery, set up a new archive library, was a customer service rep for John Deere, and ended the last 12 years in customer service as their administrative assistant until 2009.

They are the parents of Bradley (Billie) Plett, Bettendorf. Their grandchildren are Xander, Zac and Emmersen, of Eldridge.
