Virgil V. Arp passed away on Dec. 18, 2025. Per Virgil’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Services will be held a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.rungemortuary.com.
Virgil was born on Nov. 5, 1937, in Davenport, to Rudolph Jr. and Florence (Siebke) Arp. He was a 1956 graduate of Davenport High School. Virgil served his country in the United States Army for three years after graduation. He spent those years stationed in Germany. Virgil was united in marriage to Donna (Secoy). They have enjoyed many years together.
Virgil retired from Alcoa in 1993 after 31 years of service as the Davenport Works quality supervisor. He was a lifetime member of the Optimist Club, the Walcott American Legion and served on the Board of Adjustment in Riverdale. Virgil loved history, Cubs baseball, fast pitch ball, model ship building and solving puzzles. Virgil was very creative and innovative. He could create something from nothing.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Scott (Amy) Arp of Peoria, Ill., Dr. Eric (Kathy) Arp of Ridgedale, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Rudolph III (Marlene) Arp of Walcott; sisters-in-law, Nancy Beadel of Bettendorf, Barbara Arp of Texas; and many Arp and Siebke cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ron Arp.
