Obituary: Raymond Boeding

Raymond R. Boeding, 97, of Eldridge, passed away on Dec. 10, 2025. Born in Glad Valley, S.D., Ray grew up on the prairie with his six brothers and six sisters. After completing high school at St. Mary’s in West Point, Iowa, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He earned an accounting degree from the University of Iowa, where he met his wife, Joan Fitzgerald. They married on Dec. 26, 1953, and raised four children. Ray worked for the Department of the Army at AMCOM as a financial analyst and project manager.

Ray enjoyed gardening, making wine and beer, and spending time with family on vacations and reunions. He was devoted to his faith, volunteering for many years at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove.

He is survived by his children Mike (Houston, Texas), Donald (San Francisco, Calif.), and JoEllen (Eldridge); seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Susan (2022) and his wife Joan (2013).

Raymond R. Boeding will be remembered for his faith, devotion, and quiet strength.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Ray will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Long Grove.  Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at St. Ann’s, with additional visitation on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass begins.  In lieu of flowers, please direct any donations to St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
