A funeral service for Lorenz F. Behrens, 91, formerly of Eldridge, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge. Burial will be in Mt. Joy Cemetery, Park View, where military honors will be conducted. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 4, from 4-7 p.m. at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge, with additional visitation one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
Mr. Behrens died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023, at the McLean County Nursing Home, Normal, Ill.
Lorenz Behrens was born Sept. 23, 1932, in Bremer County, the son of Otto and Charlotte (Steinbeck) Behrens.
He married Marian L. Kelly on Sept. 7, 1957, in Randalia.
Survivors include a son, Martin Behrens (Susan Bassie), Normal; a daughter-in-law, Bobbie Behrens, Long Grove; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Ursula Cordes, Arlington, and Marlys Schoephoerster, Dunkerton.
Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous, the Hoover Presidential Library or Faith Lutheran Church.
