Jim (“Jimmy”) Larssen, 86, of Long Grove, passed away on Nov. 22, 2025, at Clarissa Cook House in Davenport.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a celebration of life is planned for Sunday, Dec. 14, from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Long Grove Community Center.
“Jimmy” Arthur Larssen was born March 8, 1939, to Arthur and Amanda (Claussen) Larssen in Davenport. He graduated from DeWitt High School in 1957 and entered the Army reserves, where he served for six months.
He married the love of his life, Carole Sue Farber, on March 26, 1960, at Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge. They observed 65 years of marriage this year.
They farmed their entire life on Carole’s Century Farm, where they milked registered Guernsey cows for 60 years until retiring and moving to Carole’s mom and dad’s house in Long Grove.
Jim was a member and past president of Iowa Guernsey Breeders’ Association. He also served as Secretary Treasurer of District #3 Guernsey Breeder’s for 30 years and was awarded the Pioneer Breeders’ award.
He is survived by his loving wife Carole Sue, and one son, Todd Larssen, both of Long Grove; many nieces, nephews; and his two cats, Kitty and Wiggly.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Amanda Larssen; brothers Kenny, Eugene and Leslie; and his sister Naomi Ihrig.
