Obituary: Dorothy Kroeger

Dorothy M. Kroeger, 94, of Davenport, formerly of Stockton, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Bentley Funeral Home in Durant.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Bentley Funeral Home in Durant.  Burial will take place in the Durant Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Courageous or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Dorothy was born in Davenport on May 31, 1928, to Edward and Naomi (Stein) Heyden. Dorothy married Leroy H. Kroeger on Sept. 20, 1947, in Davenport.  He preceded her in death on June 6, 2005.

Dorothy was a homemaker and farm wife.  She loved milking her cows and farming with her lifelong partner, Leroy.  Later in life she worked at Pioneer Hi-Bred, Durant, sorting corn in the fall.

Dorothy was an amazing cook and in 2008 she published her own cookbook.  She enjoyed quilting and made quilts for her family for graduations and weddings.  She and Leroy loved dancing, picnics and spending time with family and friends.

Dorothy is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters:  Karen Arp of Tampa, Fla., and Janet (Charles) Paustian of Durant; sons: Jerry (Vicki) Kroeger of Stockton, and Randy Kroeger of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren:  Kara, Lisa, Scott, Chad, Nevin, Jesse and Justine, and 12 great-grandchildren:  Kayla, Matt, Olivia, Parker, Kaitlyn, Joey, Josh, Blaine, Blake, Nathan, Rieley and Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son Keith Kroeger and grandson Jacob “Jake” Kroeger.
