Dean H. Siem, 74, of Princeton, went into the presence of the Lord Oct. 23, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, at the Edgewood Baptist Church, 2704 38th St. in Rock Island.  Following the funeral, graveside services with military honors took place at the Rock Island National Cemetery.  Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at the church.  Memorials may be made to the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department or Edgewood Baptist Church.

Dean was born on Feb. 15, 1949, in Clinton, the son of Harold and Lucille (Curtis) Siem, and was a 1967 graduate of North Scott High School.  Dean was an ambitious and hardworking man who joined the U.S. Air Force after graduation.

On June 20, 1969, he was united in marriage to Ronda Little in Pleasant Valley.

Dean served for eight years in the U.S Air Force.  He was stationed in Washington, Michigan, Alaska and Arkansas. Upon his honorable discharge from active duty, he continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve and the Iowa National Guard.

Following his military service, he was employed as an environmental health specialist for the Scott County Health Department for 18 years, and the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals, retiring in 2010.  He then worked for the Clinton County Health Department until his final retirement in 2013.

Dean farmed with his father until his death in 1995. Most recently, he would lend a helping hand to his son Cory, baling hay or driving a tractor.

He will be remembered for his passion for fishing, hunting, and trapping and sharing these experiences with family and friends.  Upon retirement, he took up gardening and you could find Dean at local farmers markets or making his rounds selling produce.  His beloved grandchildren were the joy of his life, and he was always in attendance for their activities and events.

Dean was a very sociable person and easily connected with others. God, family and friends were very important to him, and his memory will always remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Dean lived a full life and will be dearly missed.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Ronda; his daughters, Amy (Bill) Bowe, and Nicole (Bill) Kearney; his son, Cory (Lissa Kucher) Siem, all of Princeton; his grandchildren, Cale, Garrett and Cash Bowe, and Parker, Landon and Memphis Kearney; his sisters, Nancy Wruck of LeClaire, and Beverly Havenhill of LeClaire; his brother, Richard “Butch” (Kay) Graham of Camanche; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by his grandson, Ambrose Dean Kearney, in 2007.
