A memorial service for Barbara Pacha Olson, 75, of Bettendorf, will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove. Father Joseph Wolf will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. The family invites friends and neighbors to a potluck following the memorial service at St. Ann’s.
Mrs. Olson died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at her home in Bettendorf.
Barbara Jane Pacha was born Dec. 17, 1949, in Washington, Iowa, to James F. Pacha and Bernice (Covington) Pacha.
She graduated from North Scott High School in 1968.
She married Jim Shannon. She later married John Olson on Jan. 19, 1991.
She was employed as a nurse, retiring in 2002.
She was a gifted artist and musician, playing the piano and guitar. Barb liked to golf with John. Her greatest joys were her sons, Jim and Dan Shannon, and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Jim and Dan Shannon; stepdaughters Jennifer, Jessica and Heidi; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Her siblings include Jim (Yolanda) Pacha Jr., Henry (Lora) Pacha, Paul (Pam) Pacha, Roberta Shinbori, Loretta Beswick, Bonnie Pacha and Peggy (Glenn) Manders.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Lucy Geske, Florence Pacha, Mike Pacha, Peter Pacha, Jack Pacha and Joe Pacha; and her nephews, Carter Pacha and Peter Pacha Jr.
