Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday ordered Iowa restaurants and casinos to close.
The emergency order limits public gatherings to 10.
Scott County Medical Director Dr. Louis Katz commended the governor's order and issued this statement at 11 a.m. Tuesday to The NSP:
"Although cases are increasing and level of stringency of interventions have increased, pay attention, be ready for things to change rapidly and hang in there. The governor has very reasonably defined social gatherings. There are critical services that are not social gatherings. Blood donation is not a social gathering. There are others as well. As long as people are doing the other important social distancing things, there are crucial services that need to go on.
Katz said a column widely circulated on Facebook under his name is not from him. That column was distributed widely, and forwarded by many, including Scott County elected officials.
Eldridge Rec Center closes beginning Wednesday, March 18. The city already closed the community center and skating rink. Complete list of city closures.
From: Mississippi Valley Bankers Association, Illinois Quad Cities Chapter of Credit Unions and Iowa Great River Chapter of Credit Unions
Consistent with recommendations from the Center for Disease Control concerning the Corona Virus (COVID19), as well as Federal, State and Local government recommendations on social gatherings, in the near future many local banks and credit unions will be delivering in-branch services solely through drivethru facilities.
Please access your financial institution’s website or call for information on its open locations and hours of operation. Community banks and credit unions will continue to provide mobile banking services, ATM access, bill pay services, person-to-person payment services and other electronic/mobile services as usual. Other traditional services delivered in our lobbies, like access to safe deposit boxes, may be provided by appointment.
Please also contact your financial institution for information on lending, trust, wealth management, insurance and other services. The institutions making up the Mississippi Valley Bankers Association, Illinois Quad Cities Chapter of Credit Unions and Iowa Great River Chapter of Credit Unions regret any inconvenience resulting from these lobby access limitations. We believe it in the Quad Cities best interest to proactively reduce the spread of COVID19 by following CDC and government recommendations while also caring for the health and safety of our customers and team members.
It is expected that these service limitations will likely remain in place until social gathering restrictions have been lifted. Subject to applicable limits, Bank and credit union deposits are insured by the FDIC and NCUA, respectively. For more information contact your financial institution.
