Obituary: William Lemburg

William Edward Lemburg, 89, of Bettendorf, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at Harmony in Davenport.  Funeral services were Friday, May 26, at 2 p.m. at The Runge Mortuary.  Visitation was one hour prior to the service. His final resting place is in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may go to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.

Bill was born in Blue Island, Ill., on March 30, 1934.  He was the son of Richard and Helen (Schlueter) Gravenstuk. After his father passed away, he was adopted and raised by Claus Lemburg and his mother, Helen.  He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.  He married Betty Speth on Nov. 7, 1954, in Davenport.  She preceded him in death in August 1994.

He worked as a carpenter prior to retiring for several area businesses, including Wendell Cox Construction and R.E. Kern’s & Sons.  He was a member of the Carpenter Local Union #4 for 36 years.  He had also been a member of the Moose Lodge, Plus 60 Club, CASI and the Davenport American Legion Post #26.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing.  He also loved country music and travelling to Nashville.

Those left to honor his memory include his children: Kevin Lemburg, Bettendorf, and Cheryl (Dennis) Timmerman, Davenport; grandchildren:  Stefanie (Clark) Miljush, Moline, and Katy (Don) Harder, Davenport; great-grandchildren:  Mira Harder, Hannah and Charlie Miljush, and two more on the way; sister, Catherine (Frank) Paaske, Davenport; daughter-in-law, Renee Lemburg, Moline; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by daughter, Karen, and sons, Randall and Keith.
