Germaine Catherine Wilmott, 79, of Eldridge, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Grand Haven Retirement Community. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 15, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to Mass at the church. She will be laid to rest in Sioux City Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Greater Iowa Chapter-Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Germaine was born Dec. 5, 1939, to Otto and Helena (Arnsberg) Kurtenbach in Dimock, S.D. She was united in marriage to Donn Wilmott from Aug. 29, 1959, until he passed away March 15, 2001.
Germaine was a jokester, very upbeat and enjoyed being social. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and cat, Speedy. She was an amazing cook and proud to do the holiday cooking. In her younger years growing up on the farm, she loved to dance and was proud to be the baby in the family. Germaine enjoyed collecting Precious Moments, Beanie Babies, plates and many other treasures. She always loved to sing and was very involved in her church, St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Oceanside, California, and more recently St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove. She was also president of the Catholic Widow and Widower’s Support Group and Women’s Guild.
Survivors include her children, Donn (Heidi) Wilmott and Tom (Shellie) Wilmott; daughter-in-law, Anna Wilmott; grandchildren: Halle (Daniel) Stutting, Megan Wilmott, Melissa Mollison, Reynz Delina, Stevie Ann Wilmott, Xavier Wilmott and Maggie Wilmott; and siblings, Peter (Eleanor) Kurtenbach and Ramona Blair.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Evelyn Hecker, Francis Kurtenbach, Celine Homan, Kenny Kurtenbach, Don Kurtenbach and Helen Steilen; and sons, Tim and Steve Wilmott.
