Dennis L. Schmidt, 75, of Eldridge, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, at the Runge Mortuary, with visitation two hours prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Dennis was born on June 20, 1948, in Davenport, to Ralph and Marilyn Schmidt. On April 28, 1973, he was united in marriage to Sally Rae Henricksen. After her passing in 1985, Dennis married Beverley Woodsmall on Dec. 10, 1988.
Dennis served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Dennis worked as a welder until his retirement in August 2014. He also was a volunteer firefighter for the city of Eldridge for many years.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife, Beverley; sons, Tyler (Angie) Schmidt and Tom (Tiffany) Schmidt; stepson, Scott (Chris) Somers; and grandchildren, Hunter (Kirstin), Logan, Teagan, Colton, and Torrin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sally.
