David Arnold Clark, 92, of Mart, Texas, died Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at home, surrounded by his loving family. No services will be held until his beloved wife, Loretta, is called home to be with him, at which time, their ashes will be interred in their legacy stone in the Durant Cemetery.

David Clark was born April 18, 1930, at home in Bernard, Iowa, the son of Ezra and Louise (Durkop) Clark.

He enlisted into the United States Army at the age of 18, and proudly served as a corporal in the Korean Conflict until 1951. He was awarded many medals and awards for his service to his beloved country.

He married his beloved Loretta Mae Current on Oct. 4, 1952, at the Maquoketa Methodist Church in Maquoketa. They had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past October.

He was employed at Oscar Mayer for 14 years and Quality Foundry in Stockton for 33 years.

David served as a councilman for many years while living in Stockton. He volunteered on the Stockton Fire Department and was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Durant.

David was an avid musician who could play any tune by ear on his fiddles, guitar and harmonica. His examples of humanity, patience, love, strength, humility, honor, patriotism and integrity were rivaled by none. He was a husband, a father and a grandfather first and foremost. He was an uncle, a brother and a friend. He was a teacher of hearts and a leader for many. His laugh was beyond contagious.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Loretta Mae Clark; his sons, David Douglas (Laurel Dodson) Clark of Stockton, Michael Lee Clark of Mart, Texas, Gregory Mark (Carol Goben) Clark of Kahoka, Mo.; and his daughters, Juanita Ann (Clarence) Larkins of Las Cruces, N.M., and Virginia Mae (Stephen) Burrow of Hewitt, Texas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Glenn Laverne (Mickey) Clark of Missouri.

Dave was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ezra and Louise Clark; his in-laws, Paul and Zelma Current; his siblings, Lutie, Basil, Mary, Anna, Walter, Ezra, Earl, Mary Catherine, Melva, Henry, Virginia, James, Leonard, George, Alberta, and Darlene Kay; his son, Matthew Arnold Clark; a grandson, John Arnold Clark; and his daughters-in-law, Carol Goben Clark and Laurel Dodson Clark.
