Carol Ann Klemme, 88, of Long Grove, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, at Genesis East Medical Center. Services were Thursday, Nov. 30, at 12 p.m. at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation was Thursday from 10 a.m. until the noon service, at the mortuary. Her final resting place was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may go to McCausland Fire Department. Carol was born Aug. 2, 1935, in Des Moines. She was the daughter of John and Charlotte (Tague) Graham. She moved to Scott County in 1947. She married Gene Puckett on Oct. 8, 1955. He preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1956. She married Jim Klemme on Dec. 28, 1957, in Clinton County. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2005.
She drove school bus for 40 years for the North Scott School District prior to retiring. She was an avid quilter, having shown quilts at the Iowa State and Mississippi Fairs and was a true artisan. She enjoyed making beautiful wedding cakes for her family and friends. Together with her husband Jim, Carol hosted many family gatherings, picnics, holiday get-togethers and bonfires at their home. She loved to roller-skate her entire life and took immaculate care of her huge yard and flower beds.
Those left to cherish her memory include: daughter, Vicki (Lloyd) Santee, Long Grove; son, Rick Puckett, Grand Mound; grandchildren: Matthew (Missi) Santee, Michael (Ann) Santee, Jacob Puckett, Chad Lindstrom; great-grandchildren: Faith (Connor) Springer, Morgan Santee, McKenna Santee, Kirstie (Aaron) Miller and Kenley Lindstrom; great-great-grandchildren: Maci, Ava and Maverick; brother-in-law, Larry (Katie) Klemme; several nieces and nephews; special “sister,” Connie Youngers; and her beloved cat, Kitty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Timothy (1991); daughter Elizabeth (2008); granddaughter, Molly Ann Santee (1989); brother, Jim Graham (1963); brothers-in-law, Jerry Klemme and Larry Youngers; and a sister-in-law, Ruth (Cal) Ocker.
