Alan was born April 4, 1947, in Davenport, the son of Donald Clayton and Betty (Jensen) Kent. He graduated from Central Community Schools, DeWitt, in 1965. He worked for Hawkeye Chemical in the Clinton/Camanche area and later at Anderson Quarry in DeWitt. Alan was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Grand Mound.
To say that Tater enjoyed life would probably be an understatement. He enjoyed just about everything and had a way of finding something to appreciate wherever life took him. He was a self-proclaimed “river rat” and spent countless hours on the Wapsi. He will be remembered for the life he lived, the people he loved, and the many memories he leaves with family and friends.
Surviving are his son, Andy Kent of Arizona; granddaughter, Brooke Andrea Kent of Arizona; his sister and brother-in-law, DeAnn and Ron Larson of McFarland, Wis.; sister-in-law, Becki Kenton of DeWitt; nephews, Karl Larson, Lars-Erik Larson, and Leif Larson; and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Betty Kent; and his brother, Steve D. Kent.
In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held. Cremation is being provided by the Schultz Funeral Home family at their crematory in DeWitt.
