Terri Stanley

Terri Renee Stanley, age 66, of Wilton, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 18, 2026, following a courageous two-month battle with cancer.  A celebration of life will be held from 2-6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Wilton Community Center, with a time of sharing at approximately 2:30.  Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Wilton.  Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Terri was born on Sept. 15, 1959, in Iowa City, the daughter of Donald and Shirley (Smith) Steffen. She graduated from Wilton High School with the Class of 1977 before attending Scott Community College, where she earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Terri dedicated much of her career to caring for others as an LPN at local nursing facilities. She later worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Keith Stanley, retiring in 2020. On June 7, 2014, she married Keith Stanley in Emerald Isle, N.C., beginning a marriage filled with love, adventure, and shared memories.

Terri was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wilton, the Iowa Dental Assistants Association, the Wilton Alumni Association, and a proud supporter of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. She enjoyed giving back to her community through participation in local community theatre and cherished the friendships she made along the way.

Terri embraced life with enthusiasm and treasured every opportunity to spend time with her family. She loved the beach, especially vacations to Cancun and the North Carolina coast, and looked forward to family trips to the Lake of the Ozarks. An avid sports fan, she faithfully cheered for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Blackhawks. She also enjoyed watching the Indiana Fever, following Caitlin Clark's career. Nothing, however, brought Terri greater joy than watching her grandchildren compete in their sporting events, where she was their biggest fan.

Terri also enjoyed attending dirt track races at the West Liberty Raceway and Davenport Speedway and loved riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles alongside Keith, creating countless memories on the open road. Above all, Terri will be remembered for her compassionate heart, unwavering devotion to her family, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met.

Terri will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Keith; Regan (Brad) Porter of Cape Carteret, N.C., Ross (Jamie) Wagaman of Durant and Riley (Bonnie McElroy) Wagaman of Muscatine; four stepsons, Corey (Audra) Stanley of Elmhurst, Ill., Justin (Julia) Stanley of North Liberty, Pete (Ana) Robles of Wilton, and Cody (Shannen Johnson) Stanley of Coralville; 16 grandchildren, Leona, Gus, Max, Griffin, Nora, Abbott, Avery, Lila, Elsie, Lucy, Callie, Tyson, Nova, Andre, Abel and Olivia; two sisters, Tami (Stan) Sawvell of Wilton and Tracy (Brian) Krebs of Durant; her mother-in-law, Shirley Stanley of Albion; and many nieces and nephews.

Terri was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Shirley Steffen; and her father-in-law, Max Stanley.
