Kay F. King, age 87, of Durant, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. A visitation will be held from 9:30–11:15 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Private burial will take place in Durant Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Durant Ambulance or the Clarissa C. Kay was born on Nov. 16, 1938, the daughter of Harry and Eleanor (Rottman) Reimers. She graduated from Durant High School with the Class of 1956. Kay married David King on June 15, 1957, in Colorado Springs, Colo. David passed away on April 17, 1998.
Kay dedicated 31 years of her career to Louis Rich Foods in West Liberty, where she worked as a quality control package inspector, retiring in 2003. She took great pride in her job and in the friendships she built over more than three decades of service.
A woman of deep faith, Kay was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Durant. Her church community was an important part of her life, and she gave her time and talents generously. She was also a proud member of the Durant American Legion Auxiliary, supporting veterans and community activities.
Kay found happiness in life’s everyday comforts. She enjoyed watching movies, especially those on the Hallmark Channel, and in her later years developed a love for reading. As a member of the Durant Book Club, she cherished the opportunity to share stories and conversation with friends.
Above all, Kay treasured time spent with her family. Family gatherings were her greatest joy, filled with laughter, storytelling, and friendly competition. She loved playing cards—especially Sheepshead—as well as board games and a good game of cribbage. Around the table, she created memories that will be fondly remembered and carried on by those who loved her.
Kay will be lovingly remembered by her five children, Terry (Carol Graham) King of Davenport, Tom (Mardy) King of Leander, Texas, Shelly (Bob) Tisinger of Durant, David (Pam) King of Rock Island, and Jenni King of Durant; 14 grandchil-dren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Donna Peters of Durant; one brother, Richard (Ethel) Reimers of Iowa City; a sister-in-law, Deanna Reimers of Davenport; and her special neighbors, Denny and Judy.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Eleanor; three sisters, Juanita Smith, Shirley Bland and Janet Baker; and one brother, James "Jim" Reimers.
