Janet was born on March 7, 1941, the daughter of Harry and Leila (Mumm) Gust in Davenport.  She graduated from Wilton High School with the Class of 1958.

Janet married Larry Beinke on Feb. 14, 1959, in Wilton. Larry passed away on Sept. 29, 2015.

Janet devoted her life to caring for others, serving her community, and cherishing her family. She worked for 25 years with Johnson County Social Services before her retirement, where she touched countless lives through her compassion and dedication. In addition to her public service, Janet was a trusted bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Beinke Plumbing.

Janet also took pride in helping maintain and manage Jack Shuger Memorial Park in Moscow, a place that reflected her love for community and the outdoors. She was a faithful member of Grace United Church of Christ, where her warmth and kindness were felt by many.

Janet and her family shared a unique passion for raising buffalo, attending buffalo sales, and traveling to the annual buffalo roundup at Custer State Park. Their many trips out West created treasured memo-ries, including visits to the Badlands National Park, Wall Drug, Mount Rush-more, and Yellowstone National Park.

She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, from watching QVC and spending time bowling, to camping and taking annual family road trips before the start of each school year. Janet especially loved hosting holidays in her home, where family gathered year after year to share meals, laughter, and lasting traditions.  Above all, Janet loved her family. She was always there when someone needed her - offering help, comfort, or a listening ear.

Janet will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lori (Ronald) Honts of Muscatine; son, Jim Beinke of Moscow; a grandson, Derek Honts of Muscatine; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara (James) Stanford and Betty Beinke.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Beinke, a son, Edward Beinke; a brother, Robert Gust; and a sister, Jeanne Sadler.
