Jack Moeller West, 77, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at Putnam County Care Center, Unionville, Mo. Jack was born on Nov. 6, 1948, in Davenport, to Ira Elwood Henry West and Lurena Alice Moeller West.
After graduating from Durant High School in Durant in 1966, Jack completed training in auto body repair at Eastern Iowa Community College. He also proudly served in the United States Army Reserve, completing his military training in December 1968.
Jack retired from Caterpillar after a dedicated career as a machinist in 2005. After retiring, he settled at Lake Thunderhead and Unionville, Mo., where he enjoyed the lake view, had many friends, and loved to hunt and fish. You could often find him cheering on his beloved New England Patriots and Iowa Hawkeyes!
Jack is survived by his brothers, Bill West and Willard West; his sisters, Sheila West Compton and Linnea West Juarez; and close friends Terri Ganzer, Leo Chase and Tim Gusick. Jack will be remembered for his love of jokes and laughter, his appreciation for the simple things in life, and the many memories he created with those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held on Sept. 19 at noon at the Walcott Legion Hall.
