Germaine J. Plett, age 77, of Blue Grass, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, at her home.  A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 10 (today), at Calvary Church of Walcott.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at the church.  Cremation Rites will be accorded following the service.  Memorials may be made to Calvary Church Foundation Fund, Kings Harvest Pet Rescue or the Blue Grass American Legion Auxiliary.  Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Germaine was born on Aug. 8, 1948, the daughter of Delbert and Alice (Nielsen) Umland in Davenport.  She graduated from Davenport West High School, with the Class of 1966.  Germaine married Larry Plett on Sept. 2, 1967, in Davenport.

Germaine spent many years working in office roles at Gless Brothers Trucking in Blue Grass and Louis Rich in Davenport and West Liberty.  She was a longtime member of Calvary Church of Walcott, where her faith was an important foundation of her life. She especially treasured going out for breakfast after church services, sharing food, fellowship, and laughter with those she loved. She was also a proud member of the Blue Grass American Legion Auxiliary.

Family meant everything to Germaine. She and her husband, Larry, cherished their winters spent at Southern Comfort Resort in Weslaco, Texas. Whether dancing with Larry, gathering with friends, or taking part in their community, she embraced every moment.

Some of the happiest moments were made during family vacations at Table Rock Lake in Branson, where boating and being together created memories that her family will forever hold dear. She loved her Friday night girls’ nights with her daughter and sisters, attending her granddaughters’ dance competitions, and found peace in simply sitting outside on her patio at home.  Germaine’s warmth, laughter, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be profoundly missed.

Germaine will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Larry; two children, Darrin (Terri) Plett of Davenport and Stephanie (Allen) Broer of Davenport; seven grandchildren, Kirstyn (Shane) Guerrero, Austin Broer, Hailey (Josh) Hlubek, Alyssa Broer, Tyler Gleize, John Gleize and Carlos Gleize; nine great-grandchildren, Eden, Miya, Harper, Glory, Bill, Gage, Alexys, Desiree and Xavier; two sisters, Glenda Brandt and Sharma Kroeger; and a sister-in-law, Dana (John) Arlen.

Germaine was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers-in-law, Dave Brandt and Jim Plett.
