Vera Marie Pagel, 99, of Red Wing, Minnesota, formerly of Wilton, Iowa, died on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021 at St. Crispin Living Community in Red Wing. A private family funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Wilton. Private burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.

Vera was born on Jan. 8, 1922, the daughter of John and Eathal (Karns) Maurer in Wilton. She graduated from Wilton High School with the class of 1940. Vera married Harold Pagel on Nov. 7, 1948 in Wilton. Harold died on Feb. 6, 2000.
Vera worked in secretarial positions for companies such as Mutual Life and Thermagas, before retiring in 1980. She also served as a secretary for the Wilton school board. Vera was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and the Purity Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, both in Wilton.
Vera will be dearly missed by her son, Jim (Patricia) Pagel of Wabasha, Minnesota; three grandsons, Michael (Robin) Pagel, Eric (Stacey) Pagel and David (Natalie) Pagel; and five great-grandchildren, Grace, Calvin, Maxwell, Claire and Nolan Pagel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; and one brother, Leo Maurer.
