Robert D. Winter, 79, of Bennett, died on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 at Premier Estates of Muscatine.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant.

Funeral services were held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment took place in the Durant Cemetery. Military honors were conducted by the Durant American Legion Post 430.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Durant or Bennett American Legion or the Bennett Ambulance in his memory.

Robert was born in Davenport on Oct. 8, 1939 to Norman and Anna (Hendrych) Winter.

He graduated from Durant High School and served in the United States Army.

Robert married Nancy L. Kaeferstein on June 8, 1968 in Nashua, Iowa.

He owned and operated Winter’s Conoco in New Liberty for many years. He later worked at Bennett Farm Equipment.

He was a member of the Durant and Bennett American Legions. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping and fishing.

Robert is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Nancy, his brother Norman Winter of Durant, sister-in-law Karen Hogan of Muscatine and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
