Gerald Thomas “Bob” Jones, 87, of Tipton died on Friday, May 1, 2020, at his home. Cremation rites will be accorded. Condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

“Jonesy” was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Jan. 23, 1933, the son of Thomas and Kathleene (Creasey) Jones. He graduated from high school in Toronto and moved to the United States when he was 18. Bob married Shirley D. DeVore on Aug. 15, 1964 in London, Ontario, Canada. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2016.

Jonesy worked as a Machine Operator for Caterpillar in Davenport, retiring in 1988.

He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and crafting fishing lures. He enjoyed traveling and wintering at Road Runner Campground in Scottsdale, Arizona. He enjoyed going to casinos and spending time with his family and friends.

Bob is survived by his six children, Cheryl Leigh of Parkview, Shelly Sing of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Richard (Kaia) Hudson of Bristow, Val (Chris) Funk of Bettendorf, Lisa Jones (David Brosius) of Sabula, and Traci (Mitch) Hidlebaugh of Wilton; a brother, Tom Jones of Ontario, Canada; and many grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; and one son, Mark Hudson (Deb Mendoza).
