Monyeen Claire Hora, age 89, of Wilton, died on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, at the Lutheran Home in Muscatine.
A memorial service for Monyeen and Joe Hora will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church of Wilton. A memorial gathering will be held from 10-11 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. A luncheon will be held at the church, following the committal service at the cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Wilton. Monyeen was born on Sept. 10, 1934, the daughter of Lee and Mildred (Johnson) Wildasin in LeClaire, Iowa. She graduated from Wilton High School with the Class of 1952. Monyeen married Ernest Joe Hora on April 3, 1954 in Wilton. Joe passed away on Jan. 20, 2021.
Monyeen was a public-school teacher for a few years and farmed alongside her husband for forty-two years. She liked designing the home they built after retiring. Monyeen and Joe loved traveling. She enjoyed her flower gardens, reading and shopping. Monyeen was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Wilton, where she was a circle leader and served as a Sunday school teacher. Most of all, Monyeen loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Monyeen will be dearly missed by her two sons, Rick (Kathleen) Hora of Ankeny, Iowa and Doug (Deanna) Hora of Wilton; three grandchildren, Andrea (Joe) Rodgers of Waukee, Iowa, Marcus (Andrea) Hora of Marion, Iowa and Caitlin Hora of Davenport, Iowa; four great grandchildren, Logan and Krissa Rodgers and Elijah and Hannah Hora; and one brother, George Wildasin of San Antonio, Texas.
