Merle Warren Sterner, Jr, age 80, of Wilton, died on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at his home. A celebration of life will be held from 2-6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at the Wilton Community Room in Wilton. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.
Merle was born on Nov. 10, 1943, the son of Merle and Nira (Yerington) Sterner, Sr. He graduated from Wilton High School. Merle was first married to Diane and later married Susan and Beth. After graduation, Merle farmed alongside his family. He worked at Heinz, Musco Lighting and Louis Rich, retiring after thirty years.
In his younger years he loved to travel all over the United States, especially out west and to Nashville. Merle loved old cars and the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping. In his spare time, Merle enjoyed creating ceramics at his home. Most of all, Merle enjoyed sitting around his table visiting with his family and friends.
Merle will be dearly missed by his six children, Harvey, Carey, Edith, Keith, Tiffany, and Shelly; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Charlie; and one sister, Charlene; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Merle was preceded in death by one granddaughter; Stacy; four sisters, Bertha, Nellie, Shirley, and Nina.
