Marcia Ann Hetzler, age 60, of Wilton, died on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, after a twenty-year battle with breast cancer.
A visitation was held Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at the United Methodist Church of Wilton. A funeral service wwas held Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at the United Methodist Church of Wilton. Burial took place in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. Memorials may be directed to the family which will be used to establish a scholarship fund in her memory. Marcia was born on March 1, 1963, the daughter of Paul and Janet (Hinkhouse) Drumm in Muscatine. She graduated from Wilton High School with the Class of 1981 and later attended Iowa Wesleyan College, earning her teaching degree in 2012. Marcia was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church of Wilton. She was married to Mike Freeman and later to Dennis Hetzler.
Marcia was the Media Specialist for Wilton Schools for many years before teaching Language Arts, retiring in 2023. Marcia loved all of her students. She coached junior high basketball and Scholastic Bowl, was a Student Council Sponsor and always looked forward to organizing their annual Washington D.C. trip.
Marcia served as director of the Wilton Community Center and liked participating in local theater. She also enjoyed the outdoors, especially water skiing, boating, swimming and mowing. Most of all, Marcia treasured spending time with her family, especially playing trivia.
Marcia will be dearly missed by her four sons, Corey Freeman of Muscatine, Ryan (Whitney) Hetzler of Wilton, Troy (Amanda) Hetzler of Muscatine, and Tyler Hetzler of Wilton; five grandchildren, Gavin and Anna Freeman, Harper, Berkley and Reese Hetzler; her parents, Paul and Janet Drumm of Wilton; two sisters, Paula (Tom) Sheets and Deanna (Brent) Marks; one brother, Jeff (Jean) Drumm, all of Wilton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marcia was preceded in death by her grandparents.
