Keeping You in Chek

Fun ways to celebrate Father’s Day

Posted

Celebrations during these unprecedented times are different than what we have all grown accustomed to. This year’s Father’s Day celebrations I’m sure will be no different. But, there are many fun activities you can do to celebrate your father with social distancing in mind.

You could take your dad out for a round of golf. You won’t be in close proximity of people and you can share some one-on-one time with him. Or, you can take him fishing. Most dads like to do this. It’s a classic and relaxing way to spend the day. How about a good old fashioned game of catch and follow it up with a low-key family barbecue.

In the past, there was “Ride the River” that was held on Father’s Day in the Quad Cities. I’m not sure if it will happen this year or not, but you and your dad can still go for a bike ride together on some of the many trails in the local area.

A favorite of my boys is working on racecars. This has been their passion since they were small, and something their dad enjoys doing with them. They spend many hours in the garage.

Even a simple phone call or a greeting card means more to them than you may realize.

Sometimes it’s the little things you do with your dad that truly means the most. Take advantage of the time you have with them. You never know when it might be taken away.

Happy Father’s Day

A Dad is a person

who is loving and kind,

And often he knows

what you have on your mind.

He’s someone who listens,

suggests, and defends.

A dad can be one

of your very best friends!

He’s proud of your triumphs,

but when things go wrong,

a dad can be patient

and helpful and strong.

In all that you do,

a dad’s love plays a part.

There’s always a place for him

deep in your heart.

And each year that passes,

you’re even more glad,

more grateful and proud

just to call him your dad!

Thank you, Dad…

for listening and caring,

for giving and sharing,

but, especially, for just being you!

The greatest gift I ever had came from God I call him Dad!

Tell your dad you love him this Father’s Day and every day!
