Dolores and Reed Schlapkohl of 1206 11th Avenue in Durant celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Friday, Jan. 26 at a special dinner held at Thunder Bay Grill in Davenport on Jan. 26, exactly 50 years later.

Bennett native Dolores Ewoldt and Reed Schlapkohl were married Jan. 26, 1974, at Our Lady of Victory Church in Davenport.

He retired from JRB Trucking in Muscatine as a driver in 2012 and she retired in 2013 as health information specialist with Genesis Medical Center in Davenport.

The couple had three children including Nate Schlapkohl of Wilton, Nancy (Nate) Miller of Nashville, TN and Brenda (Andrew) Buns of Durant. They have three grandchildren.

A Vietnam Conflict veteran, he is a 55-year member of the Durant American Legion Post 430. The couple also spends time taking organ lessons through the Critchett Lowery organization.
