Do your part at the ballparks

Our school districts are excited about the opportunity for our students to participate in the summer sports season. Practices began on June 1, with games starting on June 15. The Wilton and Durant school districts have decided to allow parents, fans and community members to attend games. We are looking for your help in following guidelines given to us by the IHSAA and IGHSAU. If you are experiencing any of the CDC’s listed COVID-19 symptoms, you need to stay home.

When at our facilities, please do your part in social distancing as the state has recommended that non-family members stay six feet apart. Bleachers will be available, but we strongly recommend bringing your own chairs to adhere to social distancing recommendations. To help accommodate social distancing, the windscreens are being removed from the fields, so spectators can sit around the outfield fencing. Students, we ask that you sit with your families and not congregate as a “student section” in the bleachers.

Concession stands will not be available per state guidelines. Our districts have made an exception and will allow food, drinks and coolers to be brought into our venues. Rules still apply; no alcohol or tobacco products of any kind will be allowed, and please remember to pick up after yourselves. Restrooms will be available for public use, please wash your hands with warm water and soap before leaving the restroom.

Dugouts and press box areas are strictly for team personnel only. Players, coaches, and trainers will be the only personnel allowed in the dugouts. No parents or fans may enter the field or dugout area at any time, including pre and post game. Only assigned workers will be allowed in the press box during games.

There are many unknowns on what this summer season is going to look like, but both school districts are working together to make it the best situation for all involved. Please help us by doing your part in keeping all athletes and spectators as safe as possible. We look forward to seeing you at the ballpark!

Activities Directors,

Ryan Hetzler (Wilton)

Matt Straube (Durant)
