Obituary: Catherine Whiteley

Catherine “Kay” Pearl Whiteley, age 89, of Wilton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at her home.  A private graveside service will be held in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Catherine was born on July 30, 1934, the daughter of John and Hilda (Land) Wallace in Hot Springs, Ark.  She married James “Jim” Whiteley on Feb. 21, 1954, in Hot Springs.  Jim passed away on July 30, 2021.

Kay helped her husband, Jim, operate the Western Auto Store in Wilton from 1954-1976.  She enjoyed bowling, traveling, and going to casinos.  Most of all, Kay loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Kay will be dearly missed by her three daughters, Debbie Nelson, Diana (Michael) Whitman and Dee (Michele) Whiteley; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Elissa Guitierrez) Howard, Brandi (Kevin) Dorcy, Angela (Adam) Buckland, Makayla (Jeremy Fletcher) Marolf, Nathan (Katie) Whitman and Kayleigh (Dalton) Blaylock; 11 great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Noah, Brody, Hunter, Kenley, Drew, Calie, JJ, Piper, CeCe and Sylvie; one sister, Linda Woeppel; and brother, Paul Wallace.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her brothers, Jeff Wallace, Jim Wallace, Vernon “Curly” Wallace, Lloyd Wallace, Ray Wallace, and Bobbie Wallace; her sister, Pauline Berry; and son-in-law, Richard “Dick” Nelson.
