Ivan L. Henderson, 86, of Durant, IA, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton.
There will be no services or visitation per his wishes.
Ivan was born in Illinois City, Illinois on October 16, 1932 to Leroy and Francis (Marple) Henderson.
Ivan graduated from Keithsburg High School in 1950. He proudly served his country as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. Ivan married Patricia L. Green on November 25, 1955 in Aledo, Illinois.
He owned and operated I.L. Henderson Construction for many years, constructing Truck-O-Mats throughout the country. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor in Mt. Joy in 1986. After retirement, he owned H & H small engine repair in Durant.
He was a member of the Durant American Legion Post #430 and the former Durant Lions Club. He enjoyed mowing his yard and loved working on and playing with his tractors.
Ivan is survived by his wife Pat and their children Mary (Rene) Ruhlow of Moscow, Holly (Chilton) Shafer of Wellston, Michigan, Cari (Jeff) Klemme of Davenport and Mick (Ruth) Henderson of Durant; five grandchildren Brandy, Ivan Patrick, Samantha, Travis and Drew; six step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Savannah, Alex, Hadley and Paisley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Lucille, Marian, Esther, Georgie and Carol; and brothers Bud, John and Robert.
