Joshua Raye Atkins, age 21, of Wilton, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Josh was born on August 13, 2002, the son of Jeff and Julie (Fortney) Atkins in Iowa City. He battled complications from Familial Adenomatous Polyposis since the age of 12, Josh faced adversity with unwavering courage and resilience.
Josh was a student at Wilton High School with the Class of 2021 and graduated from Iowa Virtual Academy, Josh embraced his education with determination. Yet, his zest for life extended far beyond the classroom. He loved the outdoors, whether camping beneath a starlit sky, cruising on a boat, or going on motorcycle rides and ATV adventures, Josh's adventurous spirit knew no bounds. He also loved going to amusement parks and traveling across the country with his family. Most of all, Josh loved hanging out with his family and playing games online with his friends.
Josh will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Jeff and Julie Atkins; his grandfather, Gary Fortney; two aunts, Karen Balabis and Kathy (Jeff) Allbee; one uncle, Steve Fortney; one special great uncle and aunt, Lester "Beef" and Lori Arnold; and five cousins, Katie, Ben and Nick Allbee and Nicholas and Daniel Balabis
Josh was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elmer "Gene" and Levira Atkins; his maternal grandmother, Sandra Fortney; one uncle, Larry Griffin; and his beloved dog, Violet.
