The Mike Hoekstra Memorial Scholarship applications are now available at the Wilton High School guidance office. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one Wilton High School senior to help defray costs of attending an accredited technical, trade or vocational program.
Completed applications are due in the guidance office by April 15.
Mike, who passed away in 2019, always supported post-high school education, but understood that college and university programs weren’t meant for everyone. He was very proud of the local young men and women who found their careers in trade. Mike’s wife, Connie, resides in Wilton. He was the father of Jake Hoekstra, Wilton, and Angie Kraushaar of Williamsburg. He worked for almost 40 years at North Star Steel and Gerdau Ameristeel before retiring.
