WHS Alumni Association establishes endowment fund

The Wilton High School Alumni Association officially announced this week the establishment of a permanent endowment fund in support of their scholarship efforts for graduating seniors of Wilton High School.

“Since 2015 — the first year the alumni association set up an annual scholarship fund and awards — the WHS Alumni have awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to the graduating seniors of Wilton High School,” said Ted Marolf, alumni association vice president.

Marolf continued, “This year, we’re pleased to announce that in conjunction with, and in addition to our standard fund-raising efforts for the scholarship fund by the WHS Alumni across the nation, our alumni association has been able to set up a permanent endowment fund as part of its scholarship program.

“We will continue our monthly campaign of friendly badgering our alumni for their extra money they find under their car seats or in their couch cushions. That is still the most important part of our efforts to reward our current crop of graduating seniors,” Marolf added. “What the 501(c)(3) category endowment does is create a financial mechanism, whereby an alumnus, if it suits him or her, can set up a permanent financial legacy as a way to perpetuate those individual and collective memories of their time and experiences in the Wilton school system and Wilton High School.”
