Wahkonsa golf course open with social distancing rules in place

Posted

Wahkonsa Country Club has opened its golf course to members, yet the COVID-19 pandemic has the course operating with a different set of rules than usual. Golfers may walk the course and use motorized golf carts when allowed, although only one person may operate a cart at a time, to adhere with social distancing rules.
Seeding has also been done around the new man-made creek feature that runs along and through holes No. 7, 8 and 5. See below for communication sent to members recently courtesy of the club board of directors and management:
The event room, bar and dine-in food services will continue to be closed through April 30 in accordance with Governor Reynolds closure of non-essential businesses. Weather permitting, the clubhouse will be open for access to restrooms and carry out food and beverages. The purchased items should be consumed on the course following social distancing guidelines. If the state-mandated closure is extended, the rules above will extend as well. Please call ahead to the clubhouse to verify if we are open.
Grounds maintenance will continue as usual, and the course is still open to members who would like to walk. If you are riding, you must do so alone to follow social distancing guidelines (subject to carts being allowed). Club carts will be sanitized after each use. Please do not touch the flagsticks, as we will have the holes modified to eliminate contact with any surface. Once holed, please use your club to get the ball out of the cup.
The groundwork and seeding of the new grass creek are complete, and now the grass is in process of growing. When carts are allowed please stay away from bare dirt areas. The crossings will be mulched to allow golfers to pass over.
The grounds crew is working diligently to bring the course out of it its winter dormancy. We ask for your patience in understanding the work it takes to bring the course to 100 percent. We hope to allow carts in the coming days and will update you when that time comes.
