He married Cindy Bauwens on Sept. 10,1988. Vince and Cindy were married for 32 years until her death in July 2020. They had a daughter, Carlie, who is their shining light and will carry on their legacy. On Jan. 15, 2022, he married Denise Horner, which blended the two families by expanding them with additional children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, and many others, including “that darn dog” (Chloe the cat). Vince and Denise settled in West Branch, so they are between all the kids, grandkids, and grand doggies.

Vince worked at Dave’s Truck and Auto Body and after sustaining an accident at work in the winter of 1983, he transitioned career paths and began working for the city of Geneseo Water Department.until he retired in 2020. Throughout his 32 years of service at the city, he received many awards and was praise for his dedication. He was the go-to and knew all water above ground and underground that supplied the city. Vince later worked part time in the shop for Wirth Plumbing in Geneseo.

Vince served on the Illinois Rural Water Association Board of Directors for several years most recently fulfilling the role of Vice President.

Vince had a fun-loving, charismatic, yet tender heart and, over the years, he volunteered with Make a Wish Foundation, Illinois/Iowa Handicap Softball League and was an Usher with St. Malachy’s Church. Through Carlie’s Liver Transplant, he found a passion for advocating for Organ Donation. The Newton family participated in six Transplant Games, rode on the Organ Donation Float in the Rose Bowl Parade and continued to volunteer with Iowa Donor Network events. Vince will give the ultimate gift of his passion through his own donor donation, teaching, and research donation now to Iowa Donor Network.

Vince was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He liked to ride his bike on the bike paths and teaching the grandsons how to ride their bikes. He attended Coram Deo Bible Church and made many close friendships there, even rekindling old friendships.

Vince is survived by his loving wife, Denise and daughter Carlie (Colton Sanchez). He is also survived by his mother, Joanne Newton, and siblings Scott Newton, Kara Barnes and Eric (Katharina) Newton as well as Denise's siblings, Kathy (Ken) Simmons, Scott

(Tara) Smith and Shari Kenworthy. Also surviving are bonus children Jared (Mandy) Horner, Erica (Horner) Riley, and Trey Horner. Vince also enjoyed playing with the beautiful grandchildren that were brought into his life, Kendyl, Hudson, Hendrix Horner, Jet Riley and Malani Lynn Horner.
