Support Schilling, not 'a 3-time loser'

Mariannette Miller-Meeks has gone negative in her campaigning against Bobby Schilling. Miller-Meeks who has lost the last three elections for the Second Congressional seat against a liberal opponent thinks the fourth time is the charm.

Miller-Meeks attacks Bobby Schilling simply because he used to live in Illinois. Here are some facts that she may not understand since she isn’t from eastern Iowa.

1. The people of the Quad Cities are united, not divided by the river.

2. Much of what is good for western Illinois is also good for eastern Iowa.

3. When Bobby Schilling, a former Congressman from the Illinois side of the Quad Cities, fought for the Rock Island Arsenal, he was also fighting for Iowans.

4. Many Iowans cross that river every day for jobs and return home each night.

This election is very important to Iowans. We have a chance to turn this blue congressional seat back to red. You have tried three times and failed each time. Rather than argue positions with Bobby Schilling, your whole campaign is to label him “from Illinois.” Well you are from liberal California, but you moved here and now call Iowa home. I call you an Iowan, just like I call Bobby Schilling an Iowan. By your position, people that move here from the other side of the river can never become an Iowan.

I guess I need to remind you that President Ronald Reagan moved from across that river into Davenport to start his career. If we took your position, Reagan would not have been electable in Iowa because he came from Illinois. Thank God eastern Iowans know better. They also know better than to support a 3-time loser of a seat she should have won.

I encourage people to vote for Bobby Schilling, a successful business person and a person that got things done when he was in Congress.
