Soak in our Year in Review section

Posted

If there's one thing we can't stop in this life, it's time. And as the world turns, we come to you this week with another installment of our annual Year in Review section, where we take our readers down memory lane, with the stories of the past year.

See pages 1, and 8-15 for our Year in Review section. I've said it before and I'll say it again — it never ceases to amaze me what occurs in a year's time within our small towns. There are countless extraordinary people doing extraordinary things in these communities, and while I'm just one man and we're just one product, we do our best to be around for a lot of it.

In my 13 years at the helm here, I've seen much growth and change within our cities. In the field of play, we've lived vicariously through our student-athletes as they experience the highest of highs and lowest of lows. Yet as we know, it's our blue and gold pride through our Wildcats and Beavers that provide us with the joy and heartbreak that helps prepare our young people for life beyond the court.

I've kept pages of notes while combing our archives in recent weeks. Several of the remarkable events we covered are presented again to you in this edition. Also, there were some that didn't make the page this week, yet I'm going to keep my notes. Perhaps we can revisit some of the highlights we didn't have room for this week when I have more space to devote to more of your stories from 2021.

Call me Captain Obvious, but 2021 represented the reopening of our cities and schools amid the COVID-19 pandemic. While the health scare is still ongoing, we are back together attending events. That has been represented week after week in this publication. On to 2022!
