Phyllis Gertrude Krebs, age 83, of Durant, IA, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at her home. Private family graveside services will be held at the Durant Cemetery. A celebration of Phyllis' life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Durant Ambulance Service. Phyllis was born in Davenport, IA on February 5, 1941 to Allen William and Gertrude Henrietta (Bangert) Otto. She graduated from Durant High School with the Class of 1960. Phyllis married Arlo G. Krebs on December 2, 1961 in Davenport, IA.
In 1961, she graduated from Mercy Hospital Practical Nursing Program in Davenport. After raising her family, she worked various part-time jobs, retiring from the HyVee Deli in Davenport.
In her spare time, she loved playing Bingo and cards, gardening and canning, sewing, and watching game shows. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Arlo and their children: Cheryl Krebs of Bettendorf, Debbie (Randy) Esbaum of Cedar Rapids, Brian (Tracy) Krebs of Durant; and Neal "Squealer" Krebs of Durant ; 4 grandchildren: Hayley (Jordan) Brauns, Rachel Krebs, Tony Krebs and Michelle Bryant; 3 great-grandchildren; her sister, Bernice Koberg of Walcott; brothers-in-law, Marvin Wulf of Abingdon, IL and Virgil Krebs of Durant; sister-in-law, Lavonne Keppy of Stockton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Darlene Wulf; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Karen Otto; and brothers-in-law, Kenny Koberg and Jim Keppy.
