Obituary: Jack VanDeusen, Sr.

Jack Robert VanDeusen, Sr., 80, of Stockton, Iowa, died Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Good Samaritan Society, Davenport, Iowa.

A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 30 at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Jack was born in Montour Falls, New York on May 4, 1941, the son of John and Margaret (Robertson) VanDeusen. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After he was discharged, Jack drove truck for various trucking companies.

He was the owner and operator of Van-Pat Trucking in Stockton for 35 years. Jack enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and playing golf.

Jack is survived by his two children, Jack (Stacie) VanDeusen Jr. of Fulton, Missouri and Melinda Bennett of Corning, New York; his life partner of 35 years, Patti Kappeler of Stockton; and her children, Rochelle (Todd) Lane of Muscatine and Jeff (Jennifer) Kappeler of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Jordan Kappeler, Cody Lane, Giddian (Logan) Kappeler, Keylee Kappeler and Ruby Kappeler; one sister, Peggy VanDeusen-Ingraham of Chenango Forks, New York; one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David VanDeusen; and one sister, Betty Lou VanDeusen.
