Greg was born on June 24, 1960, to David and Loretta (Current) Clark in Davenport. He was a member of the Class of 1977 at Durant Community School. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country from 1977-1981 as a tank driver and border patrol. Upon his return to the states, Greg met the love of his life, Carol Lea Goben. They were married on June 5, 1982, in Stockton. They had two children, Ashley and Matthew. Carol passed away on March 28, 2021.
Greg spent many years as a painter for Skipton Painting, where he built a lifelong friendship with Marvin Skipton. He was a great mechanic. Most of his teaching came from his father, David. His mechanical skills took him to Texas where he worked for several years at The Waco Dr. Pepper Bottling Company as head mechanical engineer and later at Diamond E trucking. No matter where he worked, Greg was known for his reliability and skill. Together Greg and Carol ran several bar and grill businesses.
Greg was a proud member of the American Legion in Lampasas, Texas.
Greg was outgoing with a great sense of humor. He was a devoted family man who loved his entire family fiercely. An example of this, he called his mother, Loretta twice a day, never missing a morning or evening check-in just to say I love you.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, stockcar races, being outdoors, camping, and boating, but he was happiest when he was fishing at the Mississippi River. He loved listening to music and watching westerns.
Greg will be dearly missed by his two children, Ashley (Mack Hutchison) Clark of Prairie Hill, Texas, and Matthew Clark of Gorin. Five grandchildren, Hailee Williams, Jordan Clark, Gregory (Doc) Clark, Brody Clark and Asher Hutchison, and numerous step-grandchildren; his mother, Loretta Clark of Mart, Texas, two brothers David (Doug) Clark (Margaret Hickerson) of Durant, and Michael Clark of Mart. Two sisters, Juanita (Clarence) Larkins of Las Cruces, N.M., and Virginia (Stephen) Burrow of Waco, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
Greg was proceeded in death by his father, David Clark, an infant brother Matthew Clark, nephew John Clark, sister-in-law Laurel Clark, and his mother and father-in-law, Bonnie and Victor Goben.
