Wanda J. Symmonds, 87, of Wilton, Iowa, died on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021 at the Wilton Retirement Community, Wilton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 19 at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. A visitation will be held from 5 to – 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18 at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton.

Wanda was born in Muscatine, Iowa on Sept. 11, 1934, the daughter of Charles Almon and Irva Mae (Hagerty) Farrar. She graduated from Muscatine High School with the class of 1953. She married Ronald Symmonds on June 7, 1953 in Muscatine.

Wanda enjoyed caring for children, and operated an in-home daycare for many years. She loved all children and treated them like her own. She was member of Community of Christ Church in Muscatine, where she always looked forward to their annual Christmas Bazaar. She also enjoyed cooking for children at Cedar Valley Grove Youth Camp in Mechanicsville, Iowa. Wanda was an avid Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeye football fan. She was a faithful supporter of Wilton Beaver activities. Most of all, Wanda loved Christmas, and spending time with her family.

Wanda will be dearly missed by the love of her life of 68 years, Ron; six children, Douglas (Kelly) Symmonds of Austin, Minnesota, Scott (Pamela) Symmonds of Muscatine, Kim (John) Brown of Wilton, Eric (Kayleen) Symmonds of Denver, Iowa, Christine Scarboro of Wilton and David (Rayci) Symmonds of Johnston, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Farrar of Muscatine and Charles (Marilyn) Farrar of Muscatine

She was preceded in death by her five siblings, Clifford Farrar, Roberta Niles, Betty Holden, Delores Stratton and Sandra Kurriger; one daughter-in-law, Jeannine Murrell Symmonds; and one grandson, Bradley Symmonds.
