Obit: Violet Proctor

Violet Carrie Proctor, 94, died Friday, March 19, 2021 at Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Tipton.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:30 until 10:30 service time at funeral home. Burial will be in the Inland Cemetery, Bennett, Iowa.

Violet was born Jan. 14, 1927 in Cedar County, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis and Carrie (Joenk) Mussig. On Jan. 23, 1954 she was united in marriage to Alva Thomas Proctor in Rock Island, Illinois. Violet farmed and assisted with the bulldozer business alongside her husband, land in Cedar and Muscatine counties and worked part time many harvest seasons at Pioneer Seed Corn in Durant. Violet’s passions were gardening and cheering for her boys at wrestling meets.

She is survived by four sons: Michael (Karol) Proctor, Moscow, Brent (Anne Weinard) Proctor, West Liberty, Bart (Sarah Laucamp) Proctor, Tipton, and Kelly (Jill) Proctor, Wilton; 13 grandchildren: Carrie Hicks, Jessi Proctor, Josh Proctor, Haley Proctor, Samantha (Jake) Kabela, Amanda (Tim) Connolly, Ben (Amber) Proctor, Alex (Michael) Gerken, Drew Proctor, Chris Smull, Kortney (Scott) Denkman, Kaylee (Kory) Wehmeyer, Kara (Austin) Anderson; and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brother-in-laws Lester (Ellen) Proctor and Gerald Burr; and sister-in-laws Mary Benniger and Linda Martin.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband Alva on March 1, 1992; three grandchildren, Chelsea Proctor, Nic Proctor and James Zher; and 1 great-grandchild, Corbin Maier; three sisters, Eva Mussig, Grace Bickford and Erma Riddle.
