Steven Carl Oien, 64, of Wilton died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 21 at First Presbyterian Church, Wilton. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 22 at the church. Masks and social distancing will be required. Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.

Steve was born in Muscatine on Aug. 12, 1956, a son of the late Mary Ida (Maurer) and C. Lee Oien. He graduated from Wilton High School with the class of 1974. He later attended DMACC and studied telecommunications. Steve married Rita Schmidt on July 23, 1977 at Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton.
Steve worked as a service technician and installer for Wilton Telephone Company for 44 years, retiring in 2018. Steve collected toy tractors and telephone memorabilia. He enjoyed annual trips to ride dirt bikes in Wisconsin, and family trips to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Most of all, Steve cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rita; two sons, Dan Oien of Wilton and Andy (Stephanie) Oien of Wilton; five grandchildren, Shelby, Gage, Amber, Ashley and Aubrey Oien; one sister, Laura (Ron) Klerk de Reus II of Wilton; and several nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thomas and David Oien; one niece, Rebecca Oien; and father- and mother-in-law, Calvin and Marion Schmidt.
