Richard Lee “Rick” Crooks, 66, of Muscatine passed away on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at Lutheran Living.

A celebration of life will be held at the end of April 2021. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Rick was born on April 28, 1954, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Stanley and Janice Thoureen Crooks. He married Mary Townsend and they later divorced. Rick married Marcia R. Werner in December of 2013 in Conesville.

He worked as a florist and for the Masons. Rick went back to school and received his master’s degree in social work. He also worked as the pastor of Grace United Church of Christ in Conesville for 23 years.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia; two children, Andrew Crooks of China and Melinda Dobrowolski and her husband, John, of Canada and their children Ruth and Lilith; his mother, Janice; and six siblings, Pam Elwell and her husband, Dennis, of Florida, Twyla Hartman and her significant other, Bob Watson, of Florida, Melanie Hinman and her husband, Denny, of Iowa, Torina Hill and her husband, Brent, of Iowa, Ginette Anderson and her husband, Perry, of Iowa, and Stan Crooks and his wife, Vangie, of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley; and his half-brother Howard “Howie” Crooks.
